I will be living in Moscow next year and will need a bank account. Can you recommend a respectable bank? Thanks. |

Hi ![]() Barclays Bank or Sberbank (biggest Nationalised Bank in Russia) are a safe bet. I know you are new here and like to ask you to introduce yourself, on the introduction forum so we know a little more about you, what is your interest in Russia and also how you came across our Board. Please do not take my comments as an offence but it is a customary and courtesy and al members have to do it. wiz ![]() |

Thanks. Is the bank affiliated in any way with the British Barclays bank? |

They have bought last year a small bank with 9 branches around the Russian Federation but of course they do operate under the Russian Law. ![]() |

If you are going to be in Moscow, I would recommend "Raiffeisenbank", which is Austrian and has branches everywhere in the city. My fiancee has an account with them and she's very happy with the service. |

May I put my rubles worth to this subject, I have been living in Tver which is about oh, I don`t know how far from Moscow anyway, do a Google search i.e Tver so, to continue, when I came here 10 years ago, I had to set up a local bank account called Gazprom Bank so that I was able to receive my annual personal pension from Glasgow via SWIFT wire transfer which by the way is TAX FREE as I have been out of the UK over 5 years anyway, to this day it has now changed to THE BANK OF RUSSIA or whatever it is in Russian so, this is quite a good bank but please remember that Russian banks fees are quite low and that any savings account once again their percentage rates are not very high. Well, there you go just another day in paradise and for me no problems as I am married well, sort of to a FSU Russian woman citizen in a funny sort of way ![]() Thank you for my Rubles worth !! ![]() |

So, that would solve my question, I think. :) Thanks. |

That's probably why he was whining about the US printing money, because he was worried that inflation would affect his (alleged) stolen Billions of dollars. |
