Charming Cyclades Islands

Close your eyes, think of a Greek island and you have probably conjured up one of the 39 that make up the fabulous Cyclades, with their bright white sugar–cube houses splashed with shades of brilliant blue.

Santorini

Renowned for its spectacular sunsets and rugged volcanic beauty, incredible Santorini curves around a giant lagoon in the Cyclades Islands. Formed by an ancient volcanic eruption in 1650 BC, it has the most breath–taking views in all the Greek islands. Said to be the Lost City of Atlantis, it is one of the most famous islands in the world.

Milos

The lovely island of Milos boasts more than 75 beaches; the round–island boat tour from Adamas stops off at some of the nicest ones. It is located west of Santorini and is the 5th largest of the Cyclades islands.

Paros

A delightful island with a truly superb coastline. The lively capital, Parikia, is an intriguing mix of old and new; quaint white–washed buildings and narrow winding streets, with modern boutiques, restaurants and bars. Parikia is known for its lively nightlife: just the antidote to a sleepy day on the beach.

Naxos

Some say this stunning little island is the most beautiful in all the Cyclades: famous for its exquisite sandy beaches and fascinating ancient sites. The capital, Naxos Town (Hora), is made up of atmospheric narrow streets and pretty white–washed buildings, with a great selection of restaurants, cafes and bars.

Mykonos

Magnificent Mykonos is one of the most cosmopolitan of the Greek islands; a favourite among sophisticated holidaymakers. Spend the day on one of the superb beaches, where the classic love story Shirley Valentine was filmed. Alternatively, visit one of the island’s 300 beautiful old churches...or simply wander among the striking whitewashed houses with their dazzling blue roofs, finding an irresistible photo at every turn.

Syros

Situated in the heart of the Cyclades, Syros is a small, quant island brimming with character. It’s packed with all the essentials for a perfect holiday: sandy beaches, warm friendly inhabitants, fascinating glimpses into its Venetian-influence history and a lively, varied nightlife.

Tinos

Tinos (Chora) is a typically beautiful Cycladic island. It is also a place of pilgrimage: the monastery of St Mary Evangelistria houses what’s believed to be a miracle–working icon of the Virgin Mary led to be the handywork of St Luke the Evangelist.
