Image

  • IMAGE MAXIMUM WIDTH:.....The maximum width size of any image has been set to 700 pixel.
  • IMAGE MAXIMUM HEIGHT:....There is no restriction to height.
  • MAXIMUM FILE SIZE:.............Maximum size file permitted is 256 KB for each photo!

There are two ways to upload photos

  1. You can upload them as an attachment.
  2. Import them with a URL link from another location (server).

A. - Uploading as an attachment.

  1. When you finish typing a message then go to “Upload attachment” at the bottom of the page, just before you can see the post with the original text and click “Browse”.
  2. Search in your computer to find the image and I would suggest you check also the width size by placing the mouse over the name and a pop up text will tell you exactly the sizes (Width and Height) plus the file size too.
  3. Click on the photo and then if you wish, type a caption for the photo in the box Called: "File Comment" and click "Add the File" and the photo will be uploaded to the server attached to your post.
  4. Now you must place the image inside the text or the end of it, so click in the text area where you want the image to appear and then you will see below the text area and the emoticons a box with the name of the image and a button "Place inline",click to position the image. and you can aligh it too.



Then Click Submit.to upload your post.

Here is an example on how it will appear your attached photo.
You can see the placement line inside the text panel (circled in red) in the above image.

After you have made the post you can see that you may need to click the attachment to be able to see or enlarge the photo with this method.

B. - Importing from another server is
the best way to display full size photos inside the text!

I always prefer this second method because:

  • I have full control to where and how I can place any image and any caption or text.
  • Get's rid off the horrible "Attachement" box around the image.
  • I can have text rap around the image and make the look of my post more attractive.


It's very easy by using the BBcode buttons above the panel you type the text.
Place your mouse over any of the boxes and you can read on the Tip: short description of what it does.
Also you can use the BBcode buttons to change Font size, colour and appearance of your text.

There are many servers which allow you to store photos for FREE, like Photobucket and Flickr.

First upload the photos there, copy the URL link and then click any of the "img" buttons and paste the link in between. Here how it looks the whole line for the BBcode image above:

If you are posting small size images using the [img] button looks ugly and is wasting space in your post. Use this button for large images of over 400 pixel width and then [b]centre them. If you posting a large image (MAX 700 pix) and want a border round your photo then use the button, [imgborder].

It is better to use the 2 buttons [imgleftborder] or [imgrightborder] so you don't have blank spaces on the right or left of the photo and the text is rapping around the photos.

You can see the effect on the 2 last images posted here using the [imgrightborder] and the [imgleftborder] buttons. These two buttons and also the [imgborder] one allow a 10 pixel padding around the images.

With a little practice you will get the hang of it!



REM: The Maximum width size of the photo is set to 700 pixel!

Sorry the system will not allow you to post larger size images as
we don't have the "Image Magic" program to do it for you!

Hi

Sorry but it seems that the first option for Uploading pictures has a slight issue, see the attached :?

As for the second option I have not tried it but if I can be honest I would rather not it just seems to me like too much hard work.

Sorry about my previous mistake regarding size. System is correct 256 KB max for each picture. [oopss.gif]

I will not change the size because it will slow down the fast loading of the board.

You have to make the file smaller please. [wink.gif]

I will make the photos smaller.
I just hope that it will not detract too much from the quality, but if it does then it does.

I can't upload anything, because it is showing uploads disabled where it should show upload attachments. [bad.gif]

To upload from Photobucket (OK you will need to open a Photobucket account but it is free), there are other sites that allow the same options, I just prefer to use Photobucket.

Photobucket
  • Go to your image click on the Direct link the link will be copied automatically.
  • Click on the {Img} (square brackets) and your Img is uploaded

To upload an attachment.
  • Go to the Browse... button.
  • Find the file on your computer.
  • Click the Add the file button.
  • Wait for the file to upload.
  • Click on the Place inline button.

Final point.

Using Photobucket (or a similar program) you have much, much more control how your pictures are displayed.

As you can see I've now managed to upload my own avatar which is more personal to me and better than the one you gave me, lol. Wiz gave me the eye [embarrased.gif] ,but I turned him down. [rolf.gif]
