Hello everyone.

Only forum I've been on before is Real Russia, but thoight I'd give this a whirl too. Elena and I have been together since Sept 2010, and have experienced the highs but thankfully not too many of the lows. I must say wee been fortunate with the UkBa and the schengen visa process to date and have managed to spend lots of time together here, in Moscow and on some European trips too. Currently we're waiting on an application for a Fiancé Visa. It was submitted in April and the wait is a nightmare!

Must admit the bureaucracy and red tape is torture and the road is long, but just have to keep the vision of us being together in the future at the forefront of our minds.

I'll let you know the outcome and I will no doubt be back to ask advice on the forthcoming processes re: FLR etc etc, assuming of course we get over this particular hurdle.

For now, poka

Hello and [welcome1.gif] to the board.

Nice to see another man on the same adventure like all of us here.

We hope that your finance gets her Visa and you will be together soon.

One question:

Why you decided to get her here on a fiancé Visa and you did not get married first in Russia and then apply for a settlement Visa?

The reason for asking is that her family and friends are there and her wedding day it's always the best day in a woman's life!

Thanks for the welcome and the kind words.

Rightly or wrongly, the wedding is not the most important thing for us. Finance is a factor. As is my personal situation with time from work and existing commitments etc.

We don't particularly care too much about how we do it, as long as we get her here!

I know that sounds a bit brash but it's how we both feel

Hiya Fras and welcome to another madhouse [biggrin.gif]

You've applied for the visa now - so good luck with that but you have chosen a slightly more difficult route as Wiz said. To have gotten married in R and then applied for settlement would have been much easier and cheaper in the long run.

This forum, while a bit quieter than RR does concentrate on life afterwards (after the visas) and life in the UK with a woman from the FSU, learning about the culture, history, politics and the like.. [drink-coffee.gif]

Good luck with your visa, keep us posted mate

Curious to know why you both think that the route we've taken was more expensive / more difficult?

It all depends on the country I think. In the Netherlands, married or not makes absolutely no difference for your visa difficulties or cost of immigration.

Afternoon everyone. Justto let you know, Ellie's fiancé visa was approved and collected it today!

Now the road to the wedding, spouse visa and a wonderful life together!

I've got some questions about other visa types but I'll put them on the appropriate forum

Cheers!

Well done and congratulations for her fiancé visa.

You may find that Teresa Mae and the coalition government are changing the rules, as from the 9th July for FLR and ILR.... but once's your woman is here.... no problems.

We will be glad to answer any questions for you.

Best wishes and I am sure you can't wait for her to be here soon.

Thanks boss. It looks like the changes only come into effect from 9/7/12, and applicants ort hose who have already been approved are out of scope here.

Will look to open a discussion on it probably on the other four

Cheers
