I've been to Izhevsk plenty of times (ex-girlfriend was from there). Nothing dangerous about Izhevsk unless you're allergic to pretty women.

Doesn't sound good so far. The excuses to not visit and stolen phone are standard 'scam in progress' excuses. There must be a manual out there somewhere for these women.

She wants to protect you from travelling to a cruel and dangerous place, the absolute least you can do is to provide her with a flying 600ft yacht.


On a more serious line you should always make the fist move and visit the lady in her country, further to this I would suggest that the vast majority of genuine women would prefer the man to visit them first as a guarantee that the man that they are communicating with is not a real prat in “real life”.

As regards to being threatened with Cossack swords and being used Kalashnikov target practice that is part of the fun of visiting the unknown.

Well here we are, the worst fears justifed. I recieved the 'money letter', along with a raft of excuses that she could not afford the cost of a visit.

I also did an IP search on the email headers and was not supprised by what I found. The primary mail server was actually located here in the UK registered to and address in Manchester.

Needles to say I have dropped all contact. What has supprised me is the length of time they have taken to develop the relationship and some of the words were very sweet and encouraging. Almost thoughtfull and attentive to the questions I asked and the words I wrote.

So there we are, Thank you all for putting me onto the scent in the first place, especially advice elsewhere about undertaking e-mail searches, that was very informative.

I do not know where to go now, this has not been a good experience for me. At one point I was convinced that it was genuine.


Any pointers towards where I could search to find a sincere and honest woman would be appreciated.

Sorry for the time and emotions you spent with this girl. The first thing is to finding a good online agency. I'm not sure which one you used but I have 4 I can PM to you which I will. I might be able to introduce you to some women who my wife knows if you're interested. That way you will be sure they are genuine.

Most important is to stay with this forum and ask any questions you might have with this process.

Hang in there and don't give up. A FSU women is worth the time and money you spend to find the right one.

Yes, it has been quite an emotional roller coaster ride but I am glad I read so much of the advice I saw on this forum. It helped me to understand some of the pitfalls and gave me the courage to look a little deeper. Had the alarms not been ringing I would have have deeply hurt.

I wil be hanging around on here for a while, I have not given up on finding my match in FSU . . . the search will continue . . . I have my reasons and at my age I like to think I know mind and feelings

Hang in there, if you look long enough you will find your gem.

There are many genuine women that live in the FSU and I am sure that if you look long enough you will find your match.

To start with be careful, at least until you have meet the woman in person

As a small pointer, remember that a genuine Russian woman is a proud creature and she will rather consume her own liver than ask a stranger for charity, money or anything similar.
Once you have established a real relationship you will be able to offer assistance (and it may be expected) but even then it will be up to you to make the offer (at least this is my experience).

On a different line, would you mind posting the text of the "money letter".
The reason for the request is, so that it can serve as a warning for others.
